What tight access actually means

It means getting plant into a space a standard excavator cannot reach, and getting the spoil back out again without wrecking what is already there. Narrow side passages, rear yards behind a finished house, basements, laneways, sloping blocks and gaps between buildings. The excavation itself is no different. What changes is the machine, the sequence and the amount of planning that happens before anything turns up on a truck.

On a tight access job the risk is rarely the dig. It is the paving, the fence, the neighbour's wall, the services running under the side passage and the finished house two metres away. Access routes get planned, existing surfaces get protected, and the work is staged so the site stays usable between shifts.
